Times and places
Messengers UK meets at Shoreham Baptist Church, Western Road, in Shoreham-by-Sea. This is a two-minute walk from Shoreham train station.
We start rehearsals at 7pm [Tuesday evenings] and finish at 8.30pm. You can come in to register from 6.45pm.
We are already rehearsing for our summer concerts. If you would like to join the choir, you will need to wait for our next series of workshops which will run from 9th September 2008 until our concerts in early December - details to follow. EVERYONE is welcome to come and sing in Messengers UK!
Tuesday rehearsal dates
We won't be running during school holidays, so the planned Tuesdays for the current run of workshops are:
- January: 22nd, 29th
- February: 5th, 12th, 26th
- March: 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th
- April: 1st, 22nd, 29th
- May: 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
- June: 3rd, 10th
NB We may need an extra rehearsal[s] just before the big events!
Does it run all year?
No, as we mentioned above - the choir meets for a string of workshops and concerts twice a year:
1) From our launch date (22nd January 2008) until our gigs during the Adur Festival at the beginning of June.
2) The choir will re-start in September, running till early December for a second stint of workshops and concerts, and so-on
Who leading the choir?
The choir is led by Julia Daintree and Fiona Eyre. Both are experienced children’s / youth choir directors and both have a huge passion for gospel music. They are just a part of a team of helpers and musicians who will look after you when you come to the church. All have been CRB checked.
Parents
The small hall is open to parents / taxi-services to chill out, read the paper and drink lots of tea, to save their sanity at risk from too many car journeys.
Costs
The weekly fee is £2.00 to cover costs - we are a non-profit making community choir run by volunteers!
Don't let the fee put you off, if you are strapped for cash. We want everybody to be able to join, so if you come from a low income family, then just speak to one of the team.
